Application of Geotextile in Erosion Control Measures
Geotextiles are used in erosion control structures, such as river bank protection projects or coastal flood control projects. A geotextile filter layer is laid between the anti-scouring block stone or precast concrete surface and the protected soil slope to prevent the soil slope from being eroded and eroded.
If the cast-in-place concrete slab is used to protect the slope, most of the neps of the geotextile are directly covered by the concrete slab, and it is difficult to drain and dissipate the pore water in the slope soil. There have been cases where the concrete slab was lifted up by excessive pore water pressure, causing damage to the erosion control structure.
In the case of cast-in-place concrete protection, a sand cushion should be laid between the concrete panel and the geotextile for drainage. In the erosion control structure, geotextiles mainly play a filtering role, followed by drainage.
In the filter design, sometimes it is necessary to check whether the mechanical properties of the geotextile meet the requirements.
